SOMALILAND: Telesom Donates $840,000 in Response to COVID-19 Related Challenges
Telesom $840,000 donations will help medical professionals treating the coronavirus patients and for people in need as a direct result of the ongoing community challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hargeisa, (Somaliland Monitor) -Somaliland’s largest telecommunications, and mobile money Transfer Company, Telesom, has on Sunday announced that it has donated $840,000 to the country’s Covid-19 response efforts.
Telesom’s $840,000 donation handed over to the country’s Covid-19 preparedness & response Committee includes medical supplies worth of $ 640, 000 and $200,000 in cash to support poor families affected by COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
The donation reflects the desire of Telesom’s management and Board of Directors to assist in the fight against the pandemic and to support the country’s most vulnerable residents.
The company made the announcement during a press conference held inside the presidential palace and attended by the Vice-President Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail Zailici on behalf of National Committee for Covid-19 preparedness & response and Telesom’s board members.
Abdinasir Adan Nur on behalf of Telesom board of directors who spoke at the press conference announced the company’s timely funds is a part of company’s response to government’s call to the private sector.
Abdinasir Adan also stated that the company’s $840,000 includes medical supplies such as ventilators, personal protective equipment (PPE) and face masks worth of $ 640, 000 and $200,000 in cash to support poor families affected by COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
“Today we are handing over $200,000 in cash intended to support poor families affected by COVID-19 pandemic crisis and essential medical supplies worth of $ 640, 000 to the Covid-19 preparedness & response Committee” Abdinasir Said.
Vice-President Saylici who also spoke at the press conference lauded Telesom Company’s role in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
