SOMALILAND: Cabinet Discusses Budget Estimates for 2022 to 2024

The 77th session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by the President of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, flanked by the Vice President, HE Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Saylici), heard briefings from the Ministers, the Deputy Minister of Interior, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Financial Development and Rural Development and Environment.

The Council was briefed by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, who briefed the Council on plans to accelerate the overall security situation in the country and the efforts of the various security forces to ensure national security. listened to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Liban Yusuf Osman briefing the Council on the contents of the Country Profile prepared by the Ministry and distributed copies of the Council ministers.

The Council also heard a report from the Minister of Finance, Dr. Saad Ali Shire, who briefed the Council on the forecast for the 2022 and 2024 budgets and the state of the country’s economy. discussed the current economic situation in the country. The Council then held a public debate on the 2022-2024 Budget Estimates.

Finally, the council heard a report from the Minister of Environment and Rural Development, Ms. Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare, briefed the council on the ministry’s increased efforts to prevent environmental degradation, especially the burning of wetlands for illegal commercial charcoal trade which is taking in an accelerated pace.
