Ahmed Ismail “Hudeydi” died of complications from the coronavirus on April 7 in a London hospital. He was without question the best “Oud” player among the Somali speaking communities around the world.
He devoted his entire life to the music and songs of the Somalis. He was a master teacher who taught his fellow men and women to play the Oud. His energy and enthusiasm was a constant inspiration for the younger generation to never give up. Hudeydi was truly an icon who was compared to such great musicians such as Jimmy Hendrix.
He was truly a national hero and Somaliland will miss him.
May Almighty Allah rest his soul in peace.
